Jessica Galbreth
"I am often asked why I chose to paint images of myth and fantasy for my art career. It honestly never seemed like a choice, as this is what is truly in my heart. From the time I was a small child, I have loved fantasy art, especially art with a basis in mythology. I am inspired by many things...mother nature in all her beauty, the intricate myths and stories of ancient cultures, the shadowy mysteries of the moon, and the innocence and simplicity I see in the eyes of my young children. It is my most sincerest hope that my artwork serves to remind others of the magic that surrounds us and lives within us always."
Mythic fantasy artist Jessica Galbreth was born on April 29th, 1974 in Toledo, Ohio. Today, she makes her home and studio in Waterville, Ohio with her husband Josh and their two children.
Though Jessica did study fine art with a major in painting for three years at the Toledo Museum of Art, she also considers herself largely a self-taught artist. She crafts her original works of art mostly with watercolors, pen and ink, but at times also utilizes an airbrush and acrylic for certain effects.
She is perhaps most celebrated for her ability to capture the haunting and often mysterious beauty of goddesses and faeries from mythology. Each of her visions brought to life on paper have a personality of their own, and often evoke strong feelings in those who view them. Some of her faeries are elegant, sweet and wistful, while others are defiant, dark and powerful.
Brigid Ashwood
"Ethereal portraits of imagined creatures, glimpses of fleeting realms and goddesses from mythic times – this is the art of Brigid Ashwood. Influenced by Celtic Myth, Fairy Legends, Spirituality, and Nature - Brigid creates glowing portraits of woman in her many aspects. Fairies, Goddesses, Witches and Priestesses gaze at their audience with soulful eyes and breathtaking expression. "
Brigid has had the good fortune in her life to have been personally mentored by a few wonderful professional artists. She credits them with the most important aspects of her training. She attended the Maryland College of Art and Design and has studied extensively on her own. She draws inspiration from Celtic Myth and Classic Fantasy themes. Goddesses, Wise Woman, Fairies and Witchy Diva's are archetypes she is fond of painting. Her style is heavily influenced by that of the Pre-Raphaelites, Art Nouveau, WWII era pin-up art, Trompe L’Oeil, and Japanese Manga. She is comfortable in many mediums - particularly tempera grassa, oil, silverpoint and watercolor and has recently moved successfully into digital painting.
Brigid’s studio is located on her 155 year old farmette in lovely Middletown, Maryland. The house was built on a Fairy mound is choc full of charm and artistic inspiration.
She spends much of her sketching time in the magical English garden located on the grounds.
When she’s not painting, Brigid cherishes spending time with her family - husband Ed, daughter Emma, and the two short fuzzy critters that round out the Ashwood clan.
