Additional Information About the Maryland Faerie Festival

Queen Ilex Aquifolia leads a dance with the faeries at the Maryland Faerie FestivalMission Statement

The Maryland Faerie Festival celebrates the Faeries.  We provide an atmosphere and entertainment inspired by Faerie folklore and literature, and of course, by the Faeries themselves!  Yes, we believe in Faeries!  Through the Faerie heritage, we encourage love, cooperation, peace, harmony and respect for all beings, along with a pinch of mischief!  The Maryland Faerie Festival, as a 501c3 organization provides educational outreach opportunities for groups promoting diligent stewardship of Nature and sponsor artists, merchants and entertainment informed by the Faerie tradition.
Things the Faeries Want you to Know
We want this event to be a place of merriment and magic for all, for all attendees to be part of that magic and for all to feel welcome and safe.  With this in mind, we ask all attendees to respect the family oriented nature of our event by adhering to the following policies:
Costumes: It’s perfectly okay to come in street clothing but we encourage attendees to wear costumes or other playful attire. For those who opt to come in costume we give a $1 discount off the admission price. If you choose to wear an elaborate costume, you may want to participate in our fashion show.
Weapons: We require all weapons to be peace tied with a plastic cable tie. This includes, but is not limited to, toy weapons, decorative weapons, costume weapons, and imaginary weapons.  Furthermore,  anything that looks like a weapon, feels like a weapon, smells like a weapon or sounds like a weapon will be considered a weapon and subject to our weapons policy.  Peace ties are available at the front gate.
No alcohol will be sold at this event.
Outside Food: Our event offers several food vendors, but you are welcome to bring a picnic lunch along with blankets and chairs.
No Pets: Due to site restrictions we cannot allow attendees to bring their pets or familiars to the festival.  Service animals are always welcome.
Handicapped Friendly: Our buildings are all handicapped accessible, however, it is a grass site, so please plan accordingly.  Parking fields and some parts of the site can get muddy when wet.  Please wear appropriate footwear and watch your step.

Our festival is built on the collective effort of our volunteers. Come share the fun with us. We always welcome additional help.
